<p>On the other hand, you may be one of those who is unable to gain, or even retain weight, due to the supersonic speed that your metabolism works at. If this is you, you will be very pleased to know that there are ways that you can gain weight too, despite every calorie you take in being burnt off at lightning speed.</p>
<p>Here are just a few things that you can try if you want to gain weight healthily. First up is to have a moderate meal of about 700 calories just before you go to bed. Even fast metabolisms slow down through the night, so these calories won&#8217;t be burnt off as usual, and will add bulk to your frame.</p>
<p>To have a good overall effect, you need to add in extra calories through the day as well. Up your intake to at least 4 meals a day and snack on protein rich items which have a very high calorific value.</p>
<p>We all know that cardio exercises keep us healthy in generally and are very good for our heart, so the last thing we want to do is give up our exercises. The good news is that you don&#8217;t have to, but you need to cut down. Don&#8217;t go all out until you are dripping in sweat, and you will burn too many calories. Just cut down on the length of your workout and the intensity of it, this will work well with the increased calories.</p>
<p>If you want to gain your weight through bulked up muscles, weight lifting is the perfect exercise for you. If you are just looking to gain weight without bulk, you want to do a low number of reps using heavier weights, as it is the reps which determine the bulk.</p>
<p>If after all this you find that you are still unable to gain weight, stop beating yourself up over it and accept that this is the way that God made you. As annoying as it may be, you are the envy of millions.</p>

It was this type of thinking that led professional trainer Tony Horton to create a workout video series that was targeted towards the average family household. It has become such a hit, in fact, that not only average home owners using it- but celebrities and politicians as well.</p>
<p>Just like any actor aspiring to make it big, Tony Horton went to the gym quite a bit in his early years. While trying to land a role in a skit of his interest, Tony started to piece together routines that were far beyond the average routine of a professional trainer. Impressed with himself, Horton started to make the shift from an actor to a personal trainer in due time.</p>
<p>Eventually Tony started to become well known- to the point where he opened his own business to train others in Santa Monica. After signing on impressive clients, doing consulting work for commercials and hosting an entertainment show, Tony started to become successful. It was only a matter of time before Horton perfected his ideas and published them in what is now known as the P90X workout routine.</p>
<p>Soon Tony&#8217;s popularity took shape in the form of a series known as the Power 90 routine. Power 90 was a hit among consumers because it used real routines that would be similar to those used in a boot camp environment. Known as boot camp for the body by some, this routine rose in popularity on infomercial networks. Soon after, something much more efficient came from the body building expert.</p>
<p>Just six years later, Horton announced the release of the P90X system. It was hailed as a much more strenuous workout routine that would maximize efficiency, muscle gain, and muscle toning ability. Due to its popularity, it has become one of the most aired infomercials in recent years. The parent company of the product, Beachbody, also states that a large portion of all sales are as a direct result of the P90X workout system they circulate.</p>
<p>The number of kits sold toppled over a million and a half sales in a report in July of 2009. Stars such as Demi Moore and Sheryl Crow are now using the product due to its immense popularity. Even members of the United States congress are using the system, in which Horton makes a special trip several times each year just to lead a seminar dedicated to a better health for our politicians.</p>

<p>Tony Horton has led the United States to a new awareness of muscle toning and health- and he isn&#8217;t stopping. Judging from the past, it&#8217;s likely Horton is already working hard to get his next routine out to consumers who so desperately need to get in better shape.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Last week&#8217;s video of the week was the scapular wall slide.  After it was posted, I got quite a few questions in the comments section, so I figured I&#8217;d devote today&#8217;s blog to answering those questions.  In case you missed the original video, here it is again:</p>

<p><strong>Q: In the wall slide, do you try to keep the wrists and back of the hands flush to the wall? I noticed that the demonstrator did not. </strong></p>
<p>A: No, that&#8217;s not mandatory.  If someone lacks glenohumeral (shoulder ball-and-socket) range-of-motion or can&#8217;t effectively posterior tilt/depress the scapulae, it&#8217;d require extra arching of the lower back to get the hands flush to the wall.  I generally tell folks to focus solely on scapular movement; the hands-to-the-wall will come over time as flexibility improves.  Scapular wall slides can still be extremely valuable even if you can&#8217;t get your hands to the wall.</p>
<p><strong>Q: Any advice on how much to let the small of the back round?</strong></p>
<p>A: I&#8217;m assuming you mean &#8220;arch.&#8221;  My response would be that you should just set your body in &#8220;normal&#8221; alignment first, and then worry about the arm positioning.  Those with bigger butts may have a little bit more arching, but I don&#8217;t really worry too much about this, as I&#8217;m purely concerned with scapular movement.  It really doesn&#8217;t matter to me whether your feet are 2&#8243; from the wall or 12&#8243; as long as you&#8217;re getting your lower traps firing and opening up the pec, anterior delt, and subscapularis.</p>
