			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Without a doubt, the chest-supported row is one of my favorite exercises.  It is a great upper-back-builder and shoulder health exercise because it keeps folks strict with their rowing by forcing them to keep the chest in contact with the pad.</p>
</p>
<p>And, while I absolutely love the fact that we have a specific chest-supported row set-up at our facility, I understand that not everyone has access to one of these bad boys.  Fortunately for those of you in that position, though, we have a few excellent substitutions you can use that offer similar benefits without the &#8220;cheating&#8221; you often see with a traditional bent-over barbell row.</p>
<p>First up is the chest-supported dumbbell row.  While you can&#8217;t use a pronated grip here, it still keeps you honest.  The only potential problem is that some benches have cumbersome &#8220;leggings&#8221; on the outsides that get in the way of ideal range-of-motion.  Most work out just fine, though.</p>
</p>
<p>Your second option is one you can do just about anywhere: the head-supported dumbbell row.  While you don&#8217;t have the chest in contact with anything, you do have to put the head in contact with the pad at all times (you can use an incline bench, glute-ham raise, or other set-up at that height).  Just make sure that you keep a neutral spine and tuck the chin so that the cervical spine is in a neutral position.</p>
</p>

<p>Truthfully, you are realizing that you need more energy throughout the day. Even though you just can&#8217;t give the time to stop by the gym, you question how the heck that pair of love handles took the time to visit your body! It is time to smell the roses, my friend, because they are wilting, and they are wilting fast. And, like the roses, you are wilting, too. So, a part of you feels that you should do something now to snap out of this rut. You just have no idea what it will take for you to start.</p>
<p>Here is a problem I have the slightest doubt a couple of you are dealing with: the commute home. It must be tearing at you, this yearning for a home-cooked meal that you haven&#8217;t even cooked yet. But, sadly, you are in traffic, and you are going to stay in it for at least 45 minutes to an hour. Here&#8217;s another scenario that I myself have faced: yo-yo dieting. Someone on the radio said you would easily lose ten pounds of fat as long as you only ate proteins in two weeks, or as long as you took this caffeine supplement with a picture of a hot and slim model on it. Nevermind the fine print about actually having to exercise.</p>
<p>Everyone is dealing with the bad economy one way or another, and because of this we are all cautious about what is necessary for spending. We immediately think about what is unnecessary to buy after all, and a gym membership can possibly be one of those things. What doesn&#8217;t help is the experience of paying for the gym being way too similar to buying a new car at a dealership. Many people around me have either been made redundant or have spouses who have been made redundant. Being unemployed has affected a lot of them negatively, as they haven&#8217;t been able to land a new job. And because they have so much free time, they naturally can slip into a negative space, which can naturally lead to stress-related physical ailments (like headaches and getting colds easily).</p>
<p>Okay, I will stop preaching at you folks, because I know for a fact that each and every one of you has the opportunity to create ways to enrich your life (physically, mentally, spiritually) regardless of whether or not you have a job. Being busy all day with work, or having too much time to dwell in unemployment really won&#8217;t be a good excuse to work out. I will never see you as a victim, and I believe you won&#8217;t ever cheat yourself of your maximum capabilities in life!</p>
