			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I&#8217;m laid out here on the couch,very comfortably I might add; with a plate loaded with steaming angel hair pasta and gobs of yummy meat sauce cooked for hours with onions and green peppers and celery and beef&#8212;-and the smell of it is soporific. I just love pasta, and when I have it with a homemade sauce like this that has simmered half the day, well; this is seventh heaven, bud&#8212;for sure. But, as I twirl my fork in the heavenly stuff, my conscience just won&#8217;t leave me alone and it keeps jabbing me to tone it down with the pasta, and get back to doing my ab exercises. What a drag.</p>
<p>But, what a drag. I&#8217;m getting just old enough that my midriff is showing its age and beginning to flab out here and there, and the trainer I&#8217;ve started working with tells me that I must keep up with these ab exercises so I can develop my core muscles and tone up my middle. Without a good strong set of core muscles, you don&#8217;t have much hope of getting a good 6pack that will wow members of the opposite sex and give you the working strength for lots of other activities like sports.</p>
<p>So I get on the medicine ball and do what exercising I can on that, work a little with the dumbbells; but I tell you, this is just not for me. I want to look good and I want to be strong and attractive, but I&#8217;m just too lazy to put the effort into it; I wish there were another way of attaining the same end point without having to work and sweat so much. These ab exercises are a real downer and I tell you, I am not thrilled at all thinking about all the work I have ahead of me.</p>
<p>I bet things would be different if I had a girlfriend, a person of interest, or any kind of a friend that was interested in how I looked&#8212;-then I would feel the need to get up and get moving and start exercising for real. But, when I&#8217;m told I have to do these ab exercises for 3-5 times a week, and keep that up for every week without fail; I say&#8212;-nuts to that. And without anyone around who really cares what I look like or any kind of a goal that I&#8217;ve set for myself, then I don&#8217;t see much on the horizon for me as far as developing my midriff. Isn&#8217;t there some other way without having to exert all this effort.</p>
<p>So, I guess the secret to sticking to a regimen of ab exercises that work, is just to do it faithfully, without looking for a way out, or whining about how much work it is. I know all the psychological aspects of exercising in the fact that you have to do it for yourself and all that stuff, but if you want to look better, but not badly enough that you have no motivation to exercise, then what. I&#8217;ve never been very good with routines either, or sticking to them for that matter.</p>
<p>I&#8217;ve been doing some thinking lately, and the thought occurred to me that I should start hanging around more with my friends that are eating the right stuff so they stay healthy, and they don&#8217;t seem to be exercising all that much or go to the gym, and they seem to be in pretty good shape. Maybe just being more with them will help, and if I follow the same patterns that they are, I can ditch these ab exercises and just hang out and look good.</p>
<p>I probably should go out and see if I can drum up a love interest and that would be enough to spark the desire to want to do ab exercises so I can finally get in shape and look like a million bucks for that special person in my life. That sounds like a plan&#8212;I need to think about that a little more and figure out just how I&#8217;m going to pull that off and where I should start looking. Meanwhile&#8212;I&#8217;m going to finish off this plate of pasta&#8212;it&#8217;s starting to get cold.</p>

<p>You have heard it said that your age is merely a number and in many respects that is true, however when it comes to getting in shape it can play an important role in how. Many people use their age as an excuse not to get in shape or lead a healthy lifestyle including a decent workout regimen.</p>
<p>Age is not a sufficient excuse not to exercise and try to stay fit. When done correctly you can incorporate workouts, weight lifting and healthy diet in such a way that you remain healthy, fit and active for years and it does not matter how old you are when you start.</p>
<p>If you are interested in reshaping your body, becoming healthy and fit, losing weight and or increasing bone density weightlifting and bodybuilding are exactly what you are looking for. Besides everyone knows that people who are fit and trim have better self-esteem and generally feel better about life as a whole.</p>
<p>People who exercise also experience the release of endorphins from the brain, which helps, maintain a sense of happiness and well-being.</p>
<p>To start with a few basics it is understood that at 40 years old you might need to make a concession or two in your workout regimen. That however does not mean you should fall for the lies about aging.</p>
<p>As we get older, our muscles and joints are less limber and this means that adequate stretching and warm up prior to exercising is very important. A 15-minute time allotment that is devoted to necessary stretching and limbering up routines will benefit you by increasing flexibility, and decreasing the chance of muscle or joint sprain or damage. The more completely you stretch the better conditioned your muscles will become.</p>
<p>Next in line is a 15-minute cardiovascular workout. You can do this on an elliptical machine, stair stepper, treadmill or stationary bike. Do not approach this as a marathon, however you should get your heart rate sped up a bit and continue to build on the limbering you have just finished. This point of your routine is to get the blood flowing and put your body on notice that you are serious about getting some work done.</p>
<p>Lightweights should be your next step. When you are using free weight training or circuit training, go through your complete routine without the use of heavy weights. You can then follow up with appropriate weights and repetitions.</p>
<p>Bodybuilders of all levels find a pyramid method very helpful in their weight routines. This technique consists of doing more repetitions with less weights and then lessening the reps as you add more and more weights. The pyramid technique is great for building body mass and more muscle.</p>
<p>One of the most important things to remember is to keep proper form with every move. It is better to cut back on the repetitions or weights than to have poor form. Keep the position of your body foremost in your mind. Proper form not only gives you the best results but also reduces the risk of injury.</p>
<p>Keep your weight routines to a maximum of 30-45 minutes each and focus on working out at least four times every seven days. When you have completed a weight training routine, you can return to a quick cardio session to cool down and further strengthen your lungs and heart.</p>

<p>There are so many factors in getting you muscles to grow other than just working out. Most people think that all they have to do is go to the gym a few times a week and they will achieve their fitness goals.</p>
<p>One of the most overlooked elements involved is that you need to rest properly- not just between workouts, but actually get a good night&#8217;s rest at the end of the day. Changing around your sleep schedule so you get a solid and consistent night of rest, every night, can lead to big changes in the results you see from your bodybuilding program.</p>

<p>For starters, your body recovers and rebuilds muscle while you are asleep. This is the crucial time when other parts of your body are shut down and not consuming energy or internal resources that your body uses to repair damages from bodybuilding.</p>
<p>With that said you will need to make sure that you stay on a schedule for sleep so that you do not confuse the body, or else it can&#8217;t heal the old and new muscle properly. If you do not give the body enough rest or enough time to heal then you will risk doing damage that can harm your health.</p>
<p>Another reason that sleep is so important for bodybuilding is that a lack of sleep can cause you to have a lack of focus and a lack of physical energy. A lack of mental focus can destroy your results while you&#8217;re in the gym.</p>
<p>Most people who are new to weight lifting will realize that you have to incorporate it into your lifestyle, and in order to do that you will need motivation. Getting motivated to go to the gym is not easy and lack of sleep will make it even harder.</p>
<p>Then at the same time, you may not even have the physical energy or motivation required to get a good weightlifting session in to begin with. There&#8217;s only so much your body can handle over the course of a day with a tiny amount of sleep. And after, work, school, family commitments and anything else you may be dealing with, working out to your full potential is often what remains undone.</p>
<p>Finally, the unseen reason why sleep is so important for great bodybuilding results is that sleeping restores and maintains a natural rhythm with your body&#8217;s hormones.</p>
<p>One of the biggest things in bodybuilding is your body&#8217;s ability to burn fat constantly. This requires you to have a high metabolism. When you sleep your body releases some hormones into your bloodstream that are essential for proper metabolism.</p>
<p>You need to make sure that you are not sleeping a wide variety of different hours every night. Sleeping for 5 hours one night and 11 the next is not the same as sleeping for 8 both nights. As stated earlier you want consistency.</p>
<p>The best thing to do is to set yourself up with a routine that gives you enough time to get rest at night. This way your body can repair itself and help you to achieve your fitness goals.</p>
