Fad diets are quick to promise fast results if we restrict ourselves to a single food or cut calories to a dangerous level for the sake of leaner bodies.</p>
<p>Wouldn&#8217;t it be better to simply change the way we look at food so obesity would become a thing of the past? You can change your eating habits now and for the rest of your life – simply by taking a new outlook on life and food.</p>

<p>The first step in changing the way you eat is to consider the reasons why you do so. Food is no longer restricted to a means of sustenance; today, it is comfort for loneliness, therapy for a broken heart and a means of socializing. </p>
<p>It&#8217;s time to put food back in its place – back on dinner tables to feed the body only. Leave the soul feeding to other activities like talking to a trusted confidante, seeking out relationships and learning to be self confident in who you are.</p>

<p>By the same token, many people head to the refrigerator when they don&#8217;t have anything more constructive to do. Time should never be wasted on mindless chow-downs. Instead, take up a new hobby, read a book or take a walk to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine. Call a friend or play a game with the kids. Find productive ways to spend your time, and you will be less likely to reach into the cookie jar when the boredom bug bites.<br />

<p>Many of us wolf down meals as quickly as possible so we can move onto the next step in our schedules.  Indulge in a leisurely meal, allowing time to properly chew and taste your food. When you eat more slowly, your body will be able to send you satiety signals more effectively, and you are less likely to overeat. Don’t be afraid to linger over the dinner table, since the very act will probably mean you eat less in the long run.<br />

Make Peace with your Body</strong></p>
<p>Another unhealthy food habit is to jump from one fad diet to another in the hopes of shedding excess weight. Our culture has made thin the ideal to be desired, but not all of us were born to long, willowy bodies. When you decide to be comfortable with your body now, you will be less likely to leap aboard every diet bandwagon that comes along.<br />

Make Food a Choice</strong></p>
<p>Many see healthy eating as a long list of don&#8217;t, shouldn&#8217;t and can&#8217;t. Change these negatives into positives by selecting foods you CAN eat, rather than focusing on those you should avoid. By allowing yourself a choice in your eating habits, you will be less likely to sabotage yourself when the restrictions become too much.</p>
<p>Eating right is about much more than learning which foods to set on your table. It involves changing how you look at food and allowing yourself the choice – rather than the mandate – to live a healthier lifestyle.</p>

<p>It&#8217;s simple, eat less to weigh less, right? Changing ones eating habit is only a temporary fix at best, more needs to be done. Learn how to eat &#8211; a good balanced diet and be prepared to follow it the rest of your life. Learn to eat moderately and choose those foods that are good for you.</p>
<p>Consult your family doctor or consult with a nutritionist. You will soon learn that fad diets are potentially dangerous to your well being. They are a waste of time and should be avoided. This will take an effort on your part, but will be well worth it.</p>
<p>Eat a sensible diet and stick to it. This involves some sacrifice and discipline on your part, but you can do it. Fast foods are not an option, stay away from them. They contain hundreds of fat calories, and the sacrifice will be worth it.</p>
<p>Most experts concur that not gaining weight is the best solution, however, most people are not even aware of a serious weight gain, until 15, 20, 30 lbs, and already out of control. Now the frenzy starts, and most resort to fad diets, and inevitable failure.</p>
<p>Nutrition is ultimately ignored in these diets, and the reason for their failure. The nutrients received from proper nutrition is what keeps you healthy. Protein, vitamins, carbohydrates, minerals, fiber, and even fats are required and are in a good healthy diet.</p>
<p>Don&#8217;t forget about the fringe benefits of eating sensibly. The resulting lowered cholesterol and tryglyceride levels reduce your risk of heart disease, while stable blood sugar minimizes your risk of diabetes and its associate problems.</p>
<p>Exercise changes the way you look, perform daily, and how you feel physically. Some say exercise is the closest thing we have to the fountain of youth. Exercise increases our energy and uplifts our spirits, but the news is not all good.</p>

<p>After days, weeks, or months of dieting you reach your weight loss goal. What is it like? You look better, feel better, and life is great! How long does that last? If you are like most dieters, the answer is not very long. All too soon the weight comes back on.</p>
<p>The most difficult part about weight loss, by far, is keeping the weight off. And the only way you will succeed in maintaining weight loss is to change your eating habits and lifestyle choices for the rest of your life.</p>
<p>So when you look for a weight loss program keep in mind the need to find a healthy strategy that you can see yourself continuing for a long time. These are some basic features to look for with any safe and healthy weight loss program:</p>
<p>1. The weight loss program must provide diet plans that are well-balanced and include a variety of foods from each of the different food groups. No food group should be left out.</p>
<p>2. The program urges a safe and achievable weight loss per week. If a fast weight loss program tells you that you can lose 10 pounds per week, it will end up in failure.</p>
<p>3. Diet plans should include a minimum of 1200 calories for women and 1600 calories for men.</p>
<p>4. Is there and exercise component? Don&#8217;t kid yourself. Your best chance for success will include exercise. All it takes is 30 minutes a day 3-4 days a week to actively maintain your current weight. If you aren&#8217;t active, getting started can help reduce your weight and, improve your health.</p>
<p>5. Assess the credentials of the individuals who developed the program and of those who provide counseling or other support services.</p>
<p>6. What are the costs? Will the expense fit your budget? Yes, it will cost you, but you don&#8217;t have to sell your car to get an effective and successful diet plan.</p>
<p>7. Does the program provide any form of support for the long term? A good support system is advisable when trying to lose weight.</p>
<p>Weight loss is always difficult. However if you go with a sound program and diet plan and with the backup of a good support system, achieving your weight loss goals will be much easier.</p>

<p>The concept is true, eat less and exercise more, but there is nothing simple about weight loss! Don&#8217;t let anyone try to convince you otherwise. What&#8217;s worse is that losing the weight is only half the battle. Keeping the weight off can be even more difficult!</p>
<p>However, there is a secret to successful weight loss. Unfortunately, many people who learn this secret fail to recognize its power. Instead they are like those who seek a get-rich-quick scheme. They are easy targets for the next clever marketer who promises to reveal how to lose weight fast without a proper diet or exercise!</p>
<p>This secret concept has been well proven and offers a long term solution to your weight loss woes. Choosing a healthy diet plan and lifestyle that will be easy to utilize the rest of your life will be important. This is the huge secret people miss out on all the time. What most people don&#8217;t understand is that the true meaning of a diet revolves around what you eat.</p>
<p>When you take this approach you have complete control over what you select for your diet. Even better is the fact that with each day you are able to make small changes that can help you to improve. If you get hyper motivated and go on a crash diet and have a sudden burst of exercise activity, it will probably only leave you disappointed and possibly injured or harmed in some way. Your results will be short lived at best.</p>
<p>So if quick and sudden is not the answer, what is the best and most healthy way to lose weight? Here are five tips that will help you design a healthy diet plan that will get you the results you seek.</p>
<p>1. About your energy needs and weight loss. Our body required food to sustain our basic needs for survival, so if you are gaining weight it means that you are eating more calories than what you actually needed. The equation is simple; if you want to lose weight, you must lessen your calories and increase your activity level.</p>
<p>2. Make changes gradually. If you make big changes overnight, chances are, they will fall by the wayside quickly. You will have better luck if you aim to make small and gradual changes and incorporate them into a new and permanent diet plan that you will adopt for the rest of your life.</p>
<p>3. Increase daily activity. Exercise is not very effective if you just fit it in whenever you can. To get the best results, you must exercise every day without fail. To do that, it is important to find a form of exercise that you enjoy so it is not a chore. Daily exercise burns off fat, revs up your metabolism, and helps you beat stress. Exercise is a cornerstone to sound mental and physical health.</p>
<p>4. Eat less. You must consume fewer calories than you are used to if you want to lose weight. Eat foods that are lower in calories and reduce your portion sizes. Eat several small meals during the day rather than three large ones. That will help keep you full and prevent binging and will also keep your metabolism running.</p>
<p>5. Write down your agenda. It is crucial that you have keen eyes when it comes to monitoring you diet. You can plan your meal the night before and please observe it. You can also take note of the changes you see in your body, your exercise agenda for the day and your mood at that day.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Most of us think about &#8220;starting a diet&#8221; every now and then, such that we want quick results &#8212; maybe that 5 or 10 pounds we want to lose because we want to attend our class reunion. However, if you really want to stay healthy and lose weight permanently, you&#8217;ll need to find a diet plan that&#8217;s going to support you for the rest of your life.</p>
<p>&#8220;Quick fix&#8221; diets are nothing new, and have been around for a long time, such as for those times when you want to get into a bikini and look good on the beach. However, that&#8217;s where the &#8220;diet industry&#8221; can suck us in.</p>
<p>Every New Year, many of us resolve again and again that we&#8217;re going to lose weight after our holiday binges. So, suddenly, we are bombarded with diets and exercise DVDs, all of which promise that yes, we can have that svelte figure. A few weeks go by, and the diet, too, goes on the shelf; until spring comes around, at least, at which time we want to look good for the beach or to get into our evening gown for the next party.</p>
<p>Instead of doing the same cycles every year, why not go on a &#8220;diet&#8221; that is not only going to produce the results you want, but will give you a way of life that&#8217;s permanent so that the weight comes off and stays off permanently? Why not set things up so that you never have to look at another &#8220;diet&#8221; again? Metabolism is in fact one of the most important elements in our diets, but many of us don&#8217;t really understand what that means. So, we make these four major mistakes when we try to &#8220;diet&#8221;:</p>
<p>1. Trying to &#8220;spot reduce.&#8221; In fact, you can&#8217;t lose fat from just one area. Even though so-called infomercial &#8220;experts&#8221; may tell you otherwise, the only way to lose weight is to do a workout that utilizes and affects your entire body.</p>
<p>2. Use diet pills to lose weight. These tablets slow down the metabolism by lowering the appetite to lose weight. This is short term result with detrimental effects on your long term wellbeing.</p>
<p>3. Restriction of too many calories. With this there is a reduction in metabolism but any weight loss is actually from fluids, muscle and organ mass. The loss of muscle will reduce the metabolism and therefore the body&#8217;s ability to burn calories and on stopping the low calorie intake you will regain weight and possibly put on more than before.</p>
<p>4. Thinking of metabolism as a &#8220;one factor only&#8221; element. Metabolism isn&#8217;t just affected by one area of your lifestyle; in fact, your sleeping habits, your gender, the amount of muscle mass you have, and your age, among other characteristics, affect it.</p>
<p>If you truly want to lose weight and be successful at it, you have to take everything above into consideration and put it in proper perspective. First, consider your health when it comes to your diet. &#8220;Quick weight loss&#8221; fad diets are never going to work for long, so instead, set up a healthy eating plan for yourself that will support you for the rest of your life, and give you good health.</p>

<p>1) No liquid calories (with the exception of a post-workout drink).</p>
<p>If you are trying to lose fat, liquid calories (juices, sodas, sport drinks&#8230;) are the last thing you need.</p>
<p>You have to say goodbye to alcohol, especially if you are adding mix to drinks, you&#8217;ll be drinking hundreds of calories.</p>
<p>2) No fast food.</p>
<p>Eating at fast foods restaurants means nothing but one thing: fat. You will not find healthy food at a fast food restaurant.</p>
<p>The kind of food you&#8217;ll find there is fast and cheap because of the poor quality of the food ingredients (especially the protein).</p>
<p>It will not be easy to change the kind of food you eat. And what will be harder is to prepare your own meals. Why should you have to do it so? Because there&#8217;s no better way to know what exactly you are taking into your mouth.</p>
<p>But believe me, it will taste so much better than fast food, and healthy eating will make you more alert. Eating fast food will make you feel terrible, and will make you want to have an afternoon nap at your desk.</p>
<p>One small improvement to your nutrition everyday for the rest of your life means a lot to your health.</p>
<p>3) Try eating more fruits and vegetables.</p>
<p>The goal is to eat up to 10 servings per day. If you are eating 2 servings per day, then go up to 4 servings per day by the end of the week. Then go up to 5 servings per day.</p>
<p>There&#8217;s nothing better than organic fiber-rich fruits and vegetables.</p>
<p>Nuts are also a good choice, but not the roasted in oils ones (they may be source of trans fats). Stick to natural or dry-roasted nuts.</p>
<p>Don&#8217;t worry&#8230;this small amount of nuts won&#8217;t make you fat, but will fill you up and help you lose weight.</p>
<p>5) Exercise.</p>

The unspoken message is that you just wish to meet a certain goal and then you can stop doing it. Seriously, why would you continue doing something you didn&#8217;t enjoy for the rest of your life? You have to find out how to make exercise more fun. Then you&#8217;ll enjoy it more, maybe even look forward to doing it, and you will not have to worry about how effective it is. You&#8217;ll have something you will stick to thru your life because now you&#8217;ve modified it from a dull, boring task into a fun, pleasurable way of life.</p>
<p>Try finding pretty parks to jog in. Changing up the scenery regularly can make your jog more pleasurable. Instead of staring at the clock when you run, try running a certain distance. Find someone to run with and start adding in sprints to switch it up. Listen to good music and change it occasionally, so you are able to actually get into a good straightforward mindset.</p>
<p>Get a cycle and go for bike rides. Find trails to use that make it more engaging and delightful. Get your folks to go with you and make it a fun family outing. Pack a picnic and ride to a picnic spot. Spend a few hours eating, lying on a blanket, or playing Frisbee together and then ride back home.</p>
<p>Get have some fun with your kids! Try playing tag, football, or other games that need physical activity. Play games they want to play, and dig into it. Take them to a park and get on the monkey bars with them. Do some pull ups while you&#8217;re there. Try to do things that make exercise part of your folks life. It can be really fun and rewarding and take the monotony out of your routines.</p>
